Bambarakiri Ella sits close to the Matale–Rattota hill-country route. A suspension bridge is a familiar part of photographs of the site, but it also serves the surrounding community and its condition should be checked before use.
Planning your visit
Ask locally which viewing paths and bridge sections are currently open. Do not step onto a closed or damaged bridge or block residents’ access for photographs. Wet rocks and sudden changes in river flow make the water unsuitable for an unplanned swim. Carry litter out.
