About Laxapana Falls
Laxapana Falls is part of a river landscape closely associated with Sri Lanka’s hydroelectric system. The waterfall falls into a steep-sided, wooded gorge, with different routes used for upper views and the lower approach.
Planning your visit
Ask locally about the correct viewpoint route and current access. Expect a substantial stepped descent if choosing the lower approach, followed by the climb back. Water levels can change quickly; do not enter the river, stand near the brink or rely on a quiet flow as a sign of safety.
