TRAVEL GUIDES

Accessible travel planning

Plan accessibility around the individual traveller and each part of the journey. A general accessible label is less useful than dimensions, photographs and a clear explanation of the assistance available.

Describe the practical requirements

Share the mobility equipment dimensions, transfer needs, walking tolerance and any sensory or communication requirements that affect the trip. Discuss preferences directly and do not assume every traveller needs the same support.

Verify the whole stay

Request recent photographs and measurements of the entrance, route to the room, doorway, bathroom and shower. Confirm lifts or ramps where needed, and ask how you would reach meals and other facilities.

Check every connection

Confirm vehicle access, luggage and mobility-aid storage, boarding arrangements and assistance. For a railway or boat segment, verify the specific station or vessel rather than the transport mode in general.

Write down alternatives

List activities with steps, uneven surfaces or long standing periods and agree alternatives you would enjoy. Keep access confirmations with the booking and recheck when a property, vehicle or route is substituted.
